So I am doing things a little differently for Samhain.
Instead of making up a bunch of kits to put in the shop… I decided that I am only going to do pre-orders for kits this year.

There are two kits to choose from. A smaller and a larger one.  Each kit comes with a special surprise bonus gift valued at $10.00

Please order 5 days to one week ahead of whenever you need this kit, this does not include shipping time so you would need to add shipping time to that. This allows me enough time to put the kit together and get it to the post office.

A 6x5 blank book can be added to either kit for an additional $15.98 or purchased on its own for the same price. You would pick a color scheme and theme for the cover of the book. For shipping the book alone without any other items it will be shipped in a small flat rate box for $5.95

Medium flat rate boxes arrive in 2-3 days from shipping date according to the usps website, but I would allow 3-5 days just to be on the safe side.


The veil between worlds start to thin around the early middle of Oct and are thinnest on Samhain eve (Oct 31st) which is the best time to commune with spirits and perform any kind of divination. It ends being as thin around the early middle of November.
This is also a great time for showing respect for the dead. I may write a longer blog on this subject at some point.


Any of my other divination, protection, cleansing, and banishing items are also useful during this time of year. Keep an eye out for sales on these things during the next few weeks.

Inform me of any other items you are purchasing if you are purchasing more than just a kit or a book. This helps keep your shipping costs low since if I can fit it in the medium flat rate box there will be no additional shipping costs. For the book it will be shipped in a small flat rate box unless added to one of the two kits for combined shipping.

If you are purchasing a book, please include an idea of what you would like the cover to look like, whether you want it to have a theme or not (i.e you may want it to have a Halloween/Samhain theme, a tree of life with real leaves on it, an element theme, etc) If you are having problems coming up with a theme let me know and I can try my best to help.

I will then E-mail you back an invoice for where to go to pay for the items if you are paying via PayPal.
I do accept most major credit cards with a 5% fee added to the total price for those of you who do not have PayPal. If you are wanting to just pay with a credit card I would need the type of credit card you are paying with and your credit card information to input for the payment transaction.

Special on herb vials and spell dust vials

Otherworldly Oracle Oil in the Making

Started a small batch of Otherworldly Oracle Oil for clairvoyance and divination.
Once finished the oil will be poured into 2oz glass corked bottles and be posted up for purchase.

The oil contains seven herbs and flowers associated with divination and clairvoyance.
I have also added a bit of graveyard dirt I collected to the oil; for an added boost of power as well as a connection to the dead for use in communing with spirits.

Most of the herbs and flowers contained in this oil were wildcrafted from the woods. Offerings were left in return and I never take more than I plan to use in the near future.

This oil has a variety of uses, you can use the oil to anoint your tools for divination and spirit work, for use in rituals. Anoint ones self before doing any acts of divination or spirit communication. The oil can be used to anoint stones,  pendulums, boards, and wands… Just to name a few.

*Allergy warning, this oil contains soy. Some of the herbs contained in this oil have a small chance of causing allergic reaction in certain people. It is always best to do a skin test patch in case of allergic reaction.  

Beltane Blessings

Beltane is such a wonderful and colorful holiday to celebrate.

Beltane is a favorite time for a lot of pagans to perform handfastings and wedding ceremonies.

The veils are thin on this day just as they are on Samhain.
Beltane, and its counterpart Samhain, divide the year into its two primary seasons, winter (Dark Part) and summer (Light Part).

Beltane is a Celtic festival which signals the beginning of the bright half of the year.
The festival begins on Beltane Eve with two bonfires started from nine different woods.

* Nine Woods Used in The Belfire *

Birch - (Attributes: Protection of children, purification, creativity) Add to the fire to represent the Goddess or female principle.

Oak - (Attributes: All positive purposes, magic for men, fidelity) Add to the fire symbolizing the God or male principle.

Rowan, or mountain ash - (Attributes: Divination, healing, astral work, protection) Add to the fire as the Tree of Life. .

Willow - (Attributes: – Romantic love, healing, protection, fertility, magic for women) Sacred to Hecate, add willow to the fire as a celebration of death.

Hawthorn - (Attributes: Fertility, peace, prosperity, binding) As Tree of Purification and a Sacred faeries tree, add hawthorn to the Belfire for purity.

Hazel - (Attributes: Manifestation, spirit contact, protection, fertility) As Tree of wisdom, add hazel to the fire to gain wisdom.

Apple - (Attributes: Fertility. Tree of love) Add apple wood to the fire for the magic of love.

Vine - (Attributes: Faerie work, Joy, Exhilaration, Wrath, Rebirth) This is the Tree of joy so add vine to the fire for joy.

Fir - (Attributes: Strength, life and immortality, rejuvenation) As the Tree of Immortality, add fir to your Beltane fire for rebirth.

I thought it might be nice to list some of the things associated with Beltane as well as some activities one might want to do.

Symbols of this day include any items signifying romantic love, maypoles, faeries, and flowers.

The Altar

Drape the altar in a green cloth and decorate it with blooming flowers and herbs.

Herbs

All-heal, blessed thistle, broom, curry, daffodil, dogwood, coriander, dragon's blood reed, fern, fireweed, nettle, flaxseed, hawthorn, marjoram, paprika, radish, rue, snapdragon, mushroom, almond, meadowsweet, rose, woodruff, tansy, elder leaves, oats.

Some Stones include:
Malachite, garnet, emerald, rose quartz, tourmaline.

Spells to ensure prosperity, safety, and love are good to do on this day.

Activities include:
Dancing around the maypole
Dancing around and jumping over the belfire
Gathering wild herbs and flowers, giving some to others secretly by placing them on their doorstep.
Wash your face or your whole body in the dew, flowing streams or springs at sunrise for beauty or drink for health.
Make flower wreaths
Make daisy crowns to wear atop your head
Make the boundaries of your circle with one of the herbs, flowers, or grains associated with this day.
Make  and or drink May Wine
Making May baskets
Enacting the great rite
Blessing your garden by making love in it or scattering the ashes from the belfire around and in it.


Food: dairy foods, foods made with flowers, red fruits such as strawberries and cherries, green herbal salads, red or pink wine punch, maybowl (an icebowl decorated with spring flowers and filled with maywine), large round oatmeal or barley cakes (known as Beltane cakes or Bannocks), shellfish and other aphrodisiacs.

A good salad to make which is also a cleansing tonic salad would be one made with dandelion leaves, borage flowers, and marigold petals. You could add fruits to the salad as well.
Making a yogurt based dressing is not only good for you but would incorporate the dairy aspects into your salad.

Make some shellfish for the main course (in a lemon butter reduction is always nice)
Drink some may wine with your meal,
And have the Beltane cakes for dessert.

Colors: Red, white, green, yellow.


So get out into the woods or garden and gather your flowers and herbs, decorate your home and altar, create the fire, and perform some magick! Enjoying good food and good company along the way.

Lotus Moon Apothecary

April Update

I have been busy the past little while going out into the forests, desert, and other places in nature to gather things.
I have gathered all the pollen I can for now, all the buds have gone away to make way for leaves. I snatched up some balm of Gilead buds, fern, moss, tree thorns, pine cones of all sizes, and various other things. I was lucky enough to find and dig up with the roots some wild catnip, mullein, and western mugwort. They are sitting happily in my garden now where I care for them. I never take more than I plan to use and leave offerings in return.
I currently also have a dead snake that I found near a river that I carefully collected. It will be cleaned up and it’s bones will be used for various things later. It will be awhile before I can use the bones but worth the wait. A friend of mine is going to clean them for me and the method in which he does it will take awhile.

In the desert many things were seen including three baby big horned owls. Many natural crystals and two kinds of sand were collected.

On another adventure, close to a river and a pond I came across a mother goose and her eggs.

Obviously in nesting she had shed a lot of feathers, some of which were larger and further away from the nest. So now I have a handful of goose feathers along with one or two duck feathers.

In the midst of the several forest and desert outings (you had better believe I have many more planned) I also finished a painting “Dracula’s Castle” on 9x12 canvas, done in acrylic paints. Picture is of Dracula's Castle at sunset.

I found some interesting branches that I plan to turn into wands and possibly other things depending on how much is used for what. Some of them have some really interesting twists to them which is part of the reason I grabbed them. I think I need better tools before tackling those though.

I have also been working on some talismans, sigils, seals and things of that nature. The talismans are drawn onto tea stained paper. 
You cant really see the roots but both drawings have roots. The one on the right is of a tree with seals, oghams, and runes. Its not quite finished yet but its in the making. The one on the left is the start of a talisman. Both the tree and the mushroom represent the person, inside influences, outside influences, and so on. The mushroom will have seals and symbols put on it soon. The talismans are custom made for the needs of that person.

I am deciding on which oils to make next. Obviously an oil for Litha, the Summer Solstice, being on the list. I will most likely be making a kit as well for Litha.

I was thinking about making a starter kit filled with many different kinds of herbs, woods, stones, and other things one would need for various practices. I would most likely have a few variations to it.  Possibly allow for some customization. I do not have one put together right now but if this is something you want or need in the near future please let me know.

I have not gotten much feedback as of yet on the treasure hunt idea so that is being put on hold for now. I will most likely bring it up again at a later date. Possibly sometime during the Summer.

Anyways, time for me to get back to my crafting.

Shipping by Christmas and Christmas Specials

I would like everyone to keep in mind that in order to get orders from Lotus Moon Apothecary received by Christmas that orders will need to be placed within the first 2 weeks of December or before. If you have a custom order you need done and shipped to you by then, please give me enough notice to make and ship said item.

Latest I can ship out a package and have it arrive is the 20th of December it says on the USPS website, though I would allow for more time than that. Packages can be shipped via express mail (overnight delivery) if needed upon request but t...he shipping on that would cost a lot more than the normal shipping price and would also include insurance. Not all items up for sale are listed on Etsy or the "shop now" tab on Facebook, so if you see something you want but cant find where to click to buy it, send me a message @ Lotus_moon@hotmail.com and I will direct you to where you need to go, or create a special listing for you.

This is a past book of shadows that was made.

This blank book of shadows is one that I am currently working on. This is not the best photo, but its all I could do at the moment.
It is crimson with a gold color center oval, done in oil paints.
Vines wrap around the oval and small pressed tree flowers that resemble roses are on the edges of the four corners.
The pages on the inside of the book have burnt edges.
The book is 9 inches tall and just under 6 inches wide.
This book is not finished yet, I just wanted to show a preview of what is being worked on currently. I am still deciding what I wish to put in the center of the oval.
This book will be up for sale once finished.

~Crystal Ball Pendulum Necklaces~

I have two different colors available: a translucent one that has a slight silver mirroring to it and one in a colbolt blue color.

The glass spheres are 1/2 an inch around. A multi spiral bead cap sets at the top of each sphere.

These can be used as a pendulum for divination. There are no other adornments on the chains so it will not off set the balance when using as a pendulum.

This necklace in your choice of color is $13.00 each + shipping and comes on a 18 inch hematite chain.

I have many of each color so if you need more than one in the same color let me know.

Lavender Smudging Sticks

Lavender smudging sticks/wands
Currently have 3 in stock.
from left to right, one is just over 6 inches long, middle one is 6 1/2 inches long, and the one on the right is 5 inches long. They are all approx 1 1/4 inches wide.
the black string is wrapped in a crisscross pattern and knotted at each wrap around so that the string does not unravel as soon as it is lit and could be used more than once if desired. Lavender used in the making of this wand was hand picked under the moon then dried out before wrapping into wands.
